Projection Mapping: When a Venue Becomes the Experience

Projection Mapping: When a Venue Becomes the Experience

Some of the best vendor discoveries don’t come from a curated search. They happen unexpectedly - at a meetup, in conversation, in those in-between moments where creativity tends to surface.

That’s exactly how Miss 7x7 was introduced to PulseJet Studios.

The team came across their work and immediately recognized the potential. It felt like only a matter of time before the right opportunity came along to bring it into an event.

It didn’t take long.

The Right Venue Changes Everything

Less than two months later, the perfect setting appeared - The Hibernia Bank Building, a historic 1864 landmark with soaring ceilings and intricate architectural detail.

While we layered in traditional décor, the space itself became the canvas.

Through projection mapping, the venue was transformed - without physically altering a single element.

What Is Projection Mapping (and Why It Works)

Projection mapping uses light and motion to project custom visuals onto surfaces like walls, ceilings, and architectural features, turning them into dynamic, immersive environments.

At this event, the visuals shifted every five minutes on a loop. Guests experienced multiple environments throughout the evening.

One moment, the room felt grand and cinematic.
The next, it shifted into something playful and unexpected.

A standout scene featured a whimsical green landscape, complete with animated bunnies hopping across the walls - an unexpected detail that brought a sense of delight and surprise to the experience.

Why It’s Worth Considering for Your Event

Whether planning a corporate gathering, brand activation, or social celebration, projection mapping offers something most event elements can’t:

Transformation without added complexity.

  • No large-scale builds taking over the footprint
  • No static design you’re committed to all night
  • No need to compete with the venue’s existing character

Instead, it creates flexibility, layered storytelling, and a built-in sense of discovery.

It’s especially impactful in venues with strong architectural identity - historic buildings, statement interiors, or spaces where enhancing the environment is more powerful than covering it.

A Different Way to Think About Event Design

Projection mapping shifts the mindset from “How do we decorate this space?” to “How do we activate it?”

And that shift opens the door to something far more memorable.

Because when done right, guests don’t just attend the event - they step inside it.

The Miss 7x7 Perspective

At Miss 7x7, the focus is always on finding thoughtful ways to elevate a space without overcomplicating it. Projection mapping is a natural extension of that approach and bringing in high-impact design that works with a venue, not against it.

It’s also a reminder that some of the strongest event elements aren’t always the most obvious - they’re the ones discovered along the way, then thoughtfully integrated at just the right moment.
